Teens and Technology: What We’ve Learned from Parenting in the Digital Age

In this week’s Ziglar Family blog, we’re going a little bit rogue, and instead of sharing written thoughts, we’re sharing video! (So I guess that makes this a Vlog instead of a Blog?)

Recently we’ve been hearing from many of our Ziglar Family community members with topics they’d like to see discussed here, and one that came up multiple times was TECHNOLOGY.

We hear you, and we’re making plans to really dig in and find you the best resources to help with parenting kids in this digital age!

To get started, we pulled a great video out of our archives in which Ziglar Family CEO, Mark Timm, and his wife, Ann, sat down with our COO, Bobby Hopper, to share their wisdom gained while raising six teens and their technology.

Mark and Ann are open and honest about where they learned those lessons the hard way, and are sharing so that you can maybe learn from what they wish they’d done differently.

You’re going to love this interview!  Please share your thoughts, ideas, and comments below — we’re all in this together and can definitely help each other along the way!

Would you be willing to share the contract that you use for your younger teenagers?
We have a health issue that is impacting our decision to give our daughter a cell phone, and we want to set the expectation appropriately.

Hi Angie! There are a lot of those types of contracts on the internet if you just google “cellphone contract for teens” or “cellphone contract for kids”… that’s where I found and modified mine to use with my daughters! I bet you can find something that will be a good starting point for you.

Great, helpful and practical information. Thank you for sharing it. We are raising a 14.5 yr old granddaughter and haven’t given her a smart phone yet. “Know your why” I think is super important along with all the other great info you shared so thank you.

Fantastic to hear from you, Vickie! And knowing how much of a challenge it is with kids that age, kudos to you for being able to stay strong! 🙂 (And also for raising your granddaughter; more on that topic in coming weeks!)
