The Top 10 Reasons Why Thanksgiving is Our Favorite Holiday

Our Ziglar Family team loves Thanksgiving, so we thought it would be so cool to share our top 10 Reasons why Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday.

We love Thanksgiving so much that we decided we would “take” Thanksgiving each year. That’s right, we do all the planning, cooking, and serving. We heart every minute of it too. 🙂

Everyone fights over Christmas and birthdays, so we just decided to make Thanksgiving “our” holiday.

So far, it’s been a great success, and every year, we’re reminded of the things we love about Thanksgiving.

We were inspired this year to collect our favorite Thanksgiving things into one place.

#1 Candy Corn and Peanuts (the easiest recipe ever)

Here’s your helpful tip of the day: put 3 peanuts with one piece of candy corn and you get…a Payday candy bar. (You’re welcome.) ?

#2 Gratitude

I love the spirit of gratitude that is the heart of Thanksgiving. We spend time together, and isn’t time the most important commodity we have these days?

The actual Oxford Definition of the word Gratitude is:

“The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”

#3 Cuddling

I’m a cuddler, it’s true, and when you add blankets and a fire-pit…well, I’m in Thanksgiving heaven.

Did you know that cuddling is beneficial to your overall health? According to WebMD online, cuddling can ease stress, help your heart, relieve pain, fight colds, help connect with your partner, helps you sleep, helps you bond with your newborn, and much more. How cool is that!!?

#4 Diffuser Fun

If Thanksgiving was reduced to a smell, I’d be tempted to call it wild orange and clove in my diffuser.

Do you have a favorite essential oil recipe that you put in your diffuser during this time of the year?

#5 Hot Apple Cider

I’m a fan of apple cider cold, and I drink it that way quite often. Heat it up, maybe put in a stick of cinnamon, and that’s a taste of all that’s great about Thanksgiving.

#6 Holiday Cranberry Sauce

Why don’t we eat this all year long? I guess it wouldn’t be a special Thanksgiving favorite of mine if we did…

We made this recipe last year and it was a huge hit and it only takes 15 minutes to make.

#7 Apple Crisp

Pie has its place, but pass me the apple crisp and I’m beyond happy. The smell while it’s cooking, the heat of it fresh out of the oven, the taste of it as I savor it…

This is a delicious recipe for Cinnamon Apple Crisp. Our kids LOVE this recipe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Happy tummies are the best!!

#8 Pumpkin, Pumpkin, PUMPKIN!

Did you know you can add pumpkin to EVERYTHING? No, really. Even chili AND pasta. (Shhh.)

We have probably made half of these on this list of 60 Sweet and Savory Pumpkin Recipes from The Spruce Eats. Number 1 on this list is AMAZINGLY delicious. Enjoy!

#9 Leaves and Their Glorious Colors

The photographer and artist in me just basks in the colors of fall here in the Midwest. While the leaves do change in the South, it’s nothing like what we have here in Indiana.

I’m enchanted by the way that the trees even change differently each year like they’re trying on different outfits. It feels a lot like a fashion show all around me, and I can’t get enough of it.

#10 Beautiful, Frugal, Nature-Inspired Holiday Decor

Spending money on fancy decor items just isn’t necessary. When you work with elements from outdoors, the garden or market, or even your own pantry, together with items you may already have and some creativity, the possibilities are endless. We’ve shared some cool Fall ideas here too.

We love using food in our Thanksgiving decor. Such as using corn stalks from our Indiana cornfields (bought from a local farmer, of course) gathered in a tall hurricane vase. It creates a stunning and beautiful piece.
